Camel-flage

We know that money talks and it travels across continents very easily.
We know that it makes people do strange things and affects our judgment.
We know what it can do when it finds the right hands at just the right time.
What we don’t know is how exactly does it make people extremely stupid?
Camel oragamy
You’ve seen it countless times before. Someone suddenly comes into a lot of money then things suddenly start to go, for lack of a better word, haywire! Lottery winners seem to be the obvious examples, but they are merely the ones who make the headlines. What about the television industry stars who rocket to fame and fortune and leave common sense at the lost and found? Nothing against youth and fame and fortune, it affects the older generation too. What is it about sudden wealth, or accumulated wealth for that matter that makes the cranium take leave of its dwelling place and like a moth on crystal meth dive straight for that flame?

We know from history and the Bible that caravans with travelers criss-crossed the desert with camels laden with spices and trinkets and whatever was a profitable endeavor. There was money to be made coming and going for the experienced traveler. One day a caravan was traveling down to Egypt when they were stopped and asked if they’d like to buy a teenage boy and sell him for a nice profit. They thought why not, and a deal was made.

You may remember the story of Joseph in the Old Testament. His father had four wives and twelve sons. What a blended family! The siblings thought one boy was daddy’s favorite, so one day while they were away from home, they beat the youngster and sold him to a caravan headed for Egypt! They told their father the boy was killed by a wild animal! Dad was wealthy and there was enough for everyone so what happened? Did jealousy rear its ugly head again? Whatever the reason God saw to it the boy survived and thrived. The boy thrived beyond everyone’s wildest dreams. He became the second most powerful and wealthiest person in Egypt! What came around; went home!
