Trauma. Head ajar, damaged, diseased or dead. Trauma comes in the form of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We know trauma to the head comes in many forms. Boxer Muhammad Ali has Parkinson’s due to head trauma (so did Rocky Graziano, Jack Dempsey and other boxers). NFL running back for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Dorsett, has been diagnosed with CTE. A lot of professional football players who butted heads for a living are now seeking financial damages for playing the game. Many sports professionals and non-professionals from adults to children are encountering CTE and TBI due to contact sports. Combat, car accidents, strokes, mixed martial arts (MMA) and numerous other things cause major head trauma.
We all agree that the head is a very important piece of your anatomy. Every medical training manual shows the left and right brain cradled inside your skull. To prevent your brain from severe trauma God wrapped your brain in a thick casing of bone. Medically speaking, your head is protected in such a manner to prevent injury. In war a severe blow to the head can incapacitate a soldier thus the reason to wear a helmet. Rigid helmets have been the standard for protecting the cranium since Adam thought of ‘bonking’ Eve on the head for talking to that serpent. Not to force the point, but Adam didn’t use his brain to the greatest advantage either.
The Bible is always ahead of its time. Scripture mentions the importance of the head and how vulnerable it can be in the event of trauma or injury. If you recall, the Book of Genesis details the encounter between Eve and the serpent and the disastrous outcome. Do you recall what God had to say about the matter immediately after the event took place? To begin with, God put a curse on the serpent, then God put a curse on the whole earth. Did you notice that between those two curses, God made mention of something that would happen between the serpent and the woman?
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15
Some explanation is in order. Remember who God is talking to: Adam and Eve and the serpent. Between “your” offspring (the spiritual descendants of Satan) and “her” offspring (those who are in the family of God). An individual from among the woman’s seed, namely, Christ, will deal a death blow to Satan’s head at the cross, while Satan will strike Christ’s heel! Striking Christ’s heel will cause suffering, while striking Satan’s head will prove fatal. That’s a trauma to the head that’s hard to overcome!
Need a summary? “He shall bruise his head” Genesis 3:15, means, he shall destroy all his (the devil’s) politics and all his powers, and give a total overthrow to his kingdom and interest. He gave a fatal and incurable blow to the devil’s kingdom, a wound to the head of the beast that can never be healed. Satan falls. “He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from m heaven.”” Luke 10:18, and is bound, “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” Revelation 20:2. By his grace, he treads Satan under his people’s feet “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you” Romans 16:20, and will shortly cast him into the lake of fire, “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning fire, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever”. Revelation 20:10 And the devil’s perpetual overthrow will be complete.
The End
