Alpha and Omega

Among the numerous and impressive divine titles in Revelation, none is as arrestive as this one.  Christ announces of Himself, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”  Revelation 21:6 He has the authority to claim His own title.  Alpha and Omega is the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.  As Alpha, our Lord is the Source, the Beginning of all revealed truth, of all promise given, and all testimony given to men.  As Omega, He is also our End, with His glory as our goal.  Everything in life finds its answer in Him who is “the first and the last.”

God is the Creator.  The Bible begins with the majestic story of his creation of the universe, and concludes with his creation of a new heaven and a new earth.  This is a tremendous hope that encouragement for the believer.  When we are with God, with our sins forgiven and our future secure, we will be like Christ.  We will be made perfect.  Just as God finished his work of creation in Genesis 2:1-3 and Jesus finished the work of redemption in John 19:30, so the Trinity will finish the entire plan of salvation by inviting the redeemed into a new creation.

Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. Will you be there?

The writer of Hebrews reminds us that the warriors of old prevailed because their faith was in Him who was the Author and Prefecter of such faith.  To them He was the Alpha and Omega and everything in between.  Is He your past, present, and future?

Remember, the earth as we know it will not last forever but after God’s great judgment, he will create a new earth and new "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God." Romans 8:18-21  God had also promised Isaiah that he would create a new and eternal earth. "See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." Isaiah 65:17   No, we don’t know how the new earth will look or where it will be, but our God and his followers—those whose names are written in the lamb’s book of life—will be entitled and united to live there forever.  Will you be there?

Here it is!  “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth…I saw the Holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.”  Revelation 21:1-2 The New Jerusalem is where God lives among his people.  Instead of our going up to meet him, he comes down to be with us, just as God became man in Jesus Christ and lived among us. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”  John 1:14 Wherever God reigns, there is peace, security and love.  Don’t you want to be there?

Have you ever wondered what eternity will be like?  The “Holy City, the new Jerusalem” is describes as the place where God will “wipe every tear from their eyes.”  Forevermore, there will be no death, pain, sorrow, or crying.  Let’s reiterate the word “Forevermore”.  What a wonderful truth!  No matter what you are going through right now—it’s not the last word or final impression—God has written the final chapter, be in it, be there.  We do not know as much as we would like, that is a fact and it is true, but it is enough to know that eternity with God will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine.  You don’t want to miss this!  See you there.
