Just Open the Door

Just Open the Door

There was a game show on television years ago that presented contestants with a chance to win a prize. They were given a choice of choosing a prize located behind one of three closed doors. Behind one door was a valuable prize; behind the other two doors was a token gift. You chose the door at random, and you may win an expensive vacation to Hawaii, a Billy goat or a tricycle! Not knowing was agony for some contestants. The choice of making a decision, while not knowing what could happen, brought some people to tears. Fear of the unknown can be a powerful thing.
Just Open the Door
Many people running through life face the same decision making process. Many postpone the decision about their eternal destiny with scarcely a thought until the end is close. God calls us to know Him from our first breath, but many hesitate and procrastinate until the choice is taken from us. Jesus came to earth in human form to give us hope of an afterlife. Rising from the grave should have dispelled any doubts or hesitation we may have.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.”  Revelation 3:20

There are several things happening here. Jesus Christ is knocking on the door of your life and listening. If you hear him knocking for you—and if you open the door to let him in, He will come in. Jesus has already done His part. It’s time for us to do our part. Simply open the door—heaven awaits.

Bottom line

Jesus allows us to decide whether or not to open our lives to him. Do you intentionally keep His life-changing presence and power on the other side of the door?
