Wake Up Call

Wake Up
How much sleep do you need? Five hours, ten hours? It’s not how much sleep that’s the issue. It’s true everybody needs sleep, and some require more than others. Some function on less REM time than others. The body is made to re-charge itself daily by the process of sleep. The amount of sleep time varies, what matters is our awake time, the productive time. Jesus stressed that it’s our daylight working time that matters most.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23

If we examine the life of Jesus closely we see him rising up early and putting in a full day-every day. It was only natural. It was how he was raised.

“Jesus said to them, My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” John 5:17

Should we do any less? Absolutely not! In this Scripture, Jesus was identifying himself with God, his Father. There could be no doubt as to his claim to be God. Jesus does not leave us the option to believe in God while ignoring God’s Son.

“That all [men] should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” John 5:23

Because of his unity with God, Jesus lived as God wanted him to live. Want to live with God forever?

“Eternal life”—living forever with God—is possible. It begins when you accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
