Held in Chains

Held in Chains

In America, when the police arrest someone, they are handcuffed and read their rights. An attorney is appointed to represent the accused or the accused hires one. A judge is assigned and things begin to transpire. Often lies fly. In the American legal system, a person is innocent until proven guilty. In the event a legal technicality is found, it is possible someone guilty may perjure themselves, be in contempt, and may be set free, despite evidence proving otherwise. Everyone wants justice, except the guilty, they just want to escape justice.

The Bible mentions a crime where those found guilty were immediately put in chains and held to await their day of judgment. They were not presumed innocent; they were apprehended immediately after their crime and are being held in chains until the Great Day of Judgment. They will have no lawyer to plead their case; there will be no legal jargon, lies or technicality to set them free; their sentence has already been announced, all that remains is for the sentence to be carried out.

History has proven that mankind can be terribly cruel to fellow human beings. There are atrocities in every country, in every time period, and against those entirely innocent. It is no surprise that wars break out among nations, or that a country’s prisons are overflowing, given the nature of humankind. The terrible crimes committed in the case mentioned were not committed by humans, but by…Angels! That’s right, Angels! The Bible says in the book of Jude, that God witnessed a transgression and placed certain angels in chains and dungeons to await judgment
.
God did not spare angels, or people who lived before the flood, or the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah and he is not going to spare false teachers. Some people would have us believe that God will save all people because He is so loving. It is foolish to think God will cancel the last judgment. These examples should warn us clearly that God does judge sin and unrepentant sinners cannot escape.

The wheels of Gods justice grind exceedingly slow; but they grind exceeding fine!
